Yesterday, my mom and I got to take Edna for her first visit to Riley Children's Hospital for the International Adoption Clinic. The Dr. gave her a good once over, we chatted a bit, talked about how well she's adjusting and melting into our family{Dr. said, "Like a missing puzzle piece?" I said, "Exactly"}, her milestones, all the new things she can do since we brought her home, {Which, by the way, our little noodle legged girl is no more. She can now pull to stand, is starting to side step along furniture, can clap, signs a few words, is self feeding (Kinda!), seeking comfort, snuggling, and so so much more!}and then sent us off for lab work. She's running A LOT of tests, which I'm thankful for, but that meant a lot of blood to be drawn. Trey witnessed a blood draw they did on E in the orphanage and it wasn't pretty. I knew this blood draw would be hard on her. And it was. While holding my screaming, sweating, squirmy peanut, all I could do was pray. And feel thankful. I'm so thankful that she no longer has to endure blood draws alone. I'm so thankful that we can get her the medical attention she needs. Tears of thankfulness slipped down my cheeks as she turned to me for comfort once done. She had a chest to lay her head on. Someone to wrap arms around her and assure her it was all over. Assure her it was okay. Someone to sing her songs to calm her down. I can't describe the feeling I get when I think about the fact that God chose us for her and her for us. I watch her brothers dote over her. They encourage her. Love her fiercely. Are her biggest supporters. We are so blessed to witness their relationship and how simple and perfect it is. Many times I look at my brood and am blown away. I watch them love purely, simply, deeply and can learn so much from them.
