My boys are peacefully tucked away in their beds. Each with bellies full from lunch. Hearts full from snuggling before nap time. Boo boos have been kissed. Medicine given. Hugs passed around. They know they are loved. They know they are wanted. They know they are accepted. They have mommies and daddies to cry to. Ma'ams and Mimis to spoil them. Paps and Papaws to have fun with. They are rocked and sang to before bed. When they are startled awake in the night, they have parents who rush to be by their side to talk to them. comfort them. remind them there are no monsters. pray with them. tuck them back in once they feel safe and secure again. they are cherished.
Sunday, November 4th, was Orphan Sunday. I saw pictures of loves the same age as my boys. I saw pictures of sweet babies, young children who lack the thing we were all made to know. They lack being cherished.love.accepted.wanted. Who kisses their boo boos? Who spoils them? Who, tell me WHO rushes to comfort them when they are crying in the night? Cold, alone.Hungry for food, but most of all hungry for love. Who tucks them back in? Prays over them?
My chest cracks open and my heart bleeds. I can.not.catch.my.breath. Tears flow and I can't stop them. The world says the need is too great. there are too many. the cost is too high. In the end, though, the cost is too high NOT to do something. One at a time. No one is exempt from what He has called us to do. You say you haven't been called to adopt. fine. not every one is able or willing to adopt. that's between you and Him. However, you HAVE been called to do SOMETHING. Some can adopt. Some can give. Some can pray. Everyone HAS to do something.
Their lives, and ours, depend on it....
